Online Learning Requires Online Teachers
The demand for online courses has been increasing each year. This recession has increased the demand. Maintaining an online faculty pool is now a critical objective for educational institutions and public school districts. It is also a major factor for large corporations who downsize and their remaining employees need to be trained for new tasks.
There is no doubt that the growing demand of on line learning has caught the attention of the private sector. As a result more entrepreneurs are entering the market to cater to the growing demand of students to learn online. If online teaching appeals to you there are 3 major categories of online teaching jobs: Regular pay check jobs, On demand jobs and Self Employment.
The Regular Pay Check jobs are from an educational institute or a business. If you have the expertise in a certain topic, you are hired as a teacher, usually with specific hours, only instead of a brick and mortar classroom you teach online. You may be teaching from an office or from your home according to the company guidelines. You receive a check from your employer.
The On Demand job is usually linked to a project that has a specific duration. You get paid by the hours you work. There is no regular paycheck and you are considered an associate, not an employee. Self Employment is what I value for online teaching. You create the online teaching program you want. There are companies on the web that provide software infrastructure required to deliver online teaching in various forms. Most of these are free or available at lost cost.
The other benefit about online teaching is you do not have to invest into building software infrastructures or hiring a team to manage things. You can be a one person show and you earn direct incomes from the work you do. You can start at your own pace. And you can apply all the skill you learned teaching towards your new business.
There is no regular paycheck here but your income has no limits. Many teachers, professionals and entrepreneurs start teaching online on a part time basis. If you are a teacher you already have many of the skills it takes to take your teaching skills on line. If you are an entrepreneur you have learned the skills it takes to run a business so that you can help others.
